How to Download YouTube Videos and Music via Telegram

Published June 26, 2026

YouTube is where most of us go for music, tutorials, and clips — but it won't let you keep a copy for offline on its own. You can pay for YouTube Premium, or you can use a Telegram bot: send a link, and the video or the audio comes straight back into the chat. Nothing to install, and it works the same on Android, iPhone, or desktop.

Every downloader bot works the same way. You send it a YouTube link, it asks what you want — the full video in a chosen quality, or just the audio as an MP3 — and a few seconds later the file lands in your chat, ready to save or forward. Below is how to do it step by step, a handful of bots worth trying, and what to know about quality, playlists, and copyright.

How to download a video from YouTube

  1. Open YouTube and find the video you want.
  2. Tap Share under the video, then Copy link. On the desktop site, just copy the address from the browser's address bar.
  3. Open one of the bots below and paste the link into the chat.
  4. When the bot offers formats, pick a video quality — 720p is a good balance of size and clarity, 1080p for the sharpest copy.
  5. In a few seconds the bot sends the video as a file; tap to save it to your gallery or Files.

How to download just the audio (MP3)

Want the song, a podcast, or a lecture without the picture? Most of these bots can pull out the audio track on its own.

  1. Copy the YouTube link the same way.
  2. Send it to the bot and choose the audio or MP3 option instead of a video quality.
  3. The bot returns an audio file you can play offline or add to your music — usually with the title and cover already filled in.

Bots to try

  • Download IT — pulls video and audio from YouTube, plus TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter/X. Speaks dozens of languages; just send a link.
  • Save YouTube Bot — focused on YouTube: grab the full video or just the track as an MP3.
  • YouTube Video Downloader — downloads YouTube videos in several quality options, and handles Instagram and TikTok too.
  • All Saves — one downloader for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, with audio extraction.
  • Save Video — saves clips from TikTok, Likee, Instagram, and YouTube without watermarks.
  • GoPinterest — a quick saver for Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube.

Quality, formats, and file size

  • Resolution. 360p is tiny and fine for talking-head videos; 720p suits most clips; 1080p and 4K look best but the files grow fast.
  • Telegram's 2 GB limit. A bot can't send a file larger than that, so very long or very high-resolution videos may come back in a lower quality. For a long video, audio-only is often the practical choice.
  • Audio quality. MP3 at 128–320 kbps is standard — a higher bitrate sounds better and weighs more.

Playlists, Shorts, and YouTube Music

YouTube Shorts work exactly like regular videos — copy the link and send it. Some bots can also take a full playlist link and send the tracks one by one, which is handy for grabbing a whole album or mix, though large playlists can take a while. Links from music.youtube.com usually work too, since they point to the same videos.

If a download doesn't work

  • The bot is silent or busy. These are free services under heavy load — wait a moment or try another bot from the list; they're interchangeable.
  • The file is too large. Pick a lower quality, or download the audio only.
  • Age-restricted or private video. Bots usually can't reach videos that require signing in.
  • Removed or region-blocked video. If it won't play in your browser, a bot can't fetch it either.
  • Nothing happens. Check that you pasted the full link (youtube.com/… or youtu.be/…), not a search page.

Keep it legal and credit creators

Download for personal use — to watch offline on a trip, save a tutorial, or keep a track you already own. Re-uploading someone's video as your own or selling it breaks YouTube's terms and copyright law. When you share a clip, link back to the original and credit the creator.

Start with one bot and the video/audio buttons — that covers almost everything. More options are in the YouTube Downloaders category, and if you're mostly after songs, browse Music Search.
